Baptist Mobile Mammography

Making high-quality, innovative technology and comprehensive breast care available to those in our community who lack access to health care resources or are uninsured is at the core of Baptist’s mission. Baptist’s mobile mammography services provide vital breast care in communities in and surrounding Jackson, Mississippi, including Vicksburg, Carthage, and Yazoo City.

Mississippi’s First Mobile Mammography Unit

Our mobile mammography unit is Mississippi’s first mobile screening provider. It makes the most advanced imaging technology available to Mississippians who would otherwise have little or no access to mammogram screenings by going into the communities where the need is the most.

Our unit offers screening mammograms with 3D digital breast tomosynthesis. This advanced technology takes multiple images of the breast, which allows health care professionals to detect more cancers in the earliest stages than traditional 2D mammograms.

Breaking the Cycle through Education, Accessibility

According to the Mississippi State Department of Health, more than 2,000 Mississippi women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. However, Mississippi has one of the lowest breast cancer screening rates for older women. Baptist Breast Health Center wants to help reverse this trend through early detection.

That’s why we partner with area organizations to host screening and education events to bring the Baptist Mobile Mammography to communities throughout Central Mississippi. We also partner with local businesses to host screening events for employees, who can receive a quick digital screening without having to leave work, all at no cost to the company.

Support fund for the girls

Baptist Health Foundation’s fund for the girls program removes financial barriers for those who cannot otherwise access or afford breast health screenings. One hundred percent of all donations to the fund goes to covering screening costs for women in need, including some who are screened via the Mobile Mammography Unit. Make a gift to fund for the girls if you would like to help fund free screenings.
